ESKRIDGE, Mary Agnes Walker went to be with the Lord on Saturday Sept 23, 2003.  Mary was born in Southport on Aug. 18, 1918, to the late Cassie Piver Walker and
Morgan Decatur Walker.  Her husband,
Poe, her eldest son Winston, and her brother, Joe, preceded her in death.  She is survived by her three sons, Gene (George) of
Pinnacle,
Bill (Gloria) of Alexandria, Va., and Joe (Sharon) of Lewisville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several cousins.  Mary was very active throughout her
life.  She was a charter member of Highland Presbyterian Church, served as a Cub Scout den mother and Sunday school teacher, and while  her health permitted, was an active
member of her church circle.  She was a  member of the Daughters of the American Revolution,  the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the National Geographic Society and
served on the board of the American Cancer Society.  One of her greatest joys was the completion of the Eskridge genealogy, tracing the family from her youngest
great-grandchild back 10 generations of husbands, wives and children to the first Eskridge in America, George, guardian of George Washington's mother, Mary Ball.  She was
also an animal lover from childhood. Mary spent her entire life  helping her family and others.  A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Highland
Presbyterian Church chapel.  The family will greet guests and share refreshments after the service in the fellowship hall.  To glorify God and honor Mary, please consider a
donation to Highland Presbyterian Church, 2308 Cloverdale Ave., Winston-Salem.

[On Oct 3, 1945 Mrs. Eskridge joined the UDC on the service of her Grandfather, Joseph Morgan Walker, Co. D, 16th Regt NC Inf  ]
