22 February 1805 – Stokes Will 2:63-65 - Will of Thomas Hunter:

Thomas Hunter (1763-1805) married Elizabeth Robinson. Thomas is the son of John Hunter Sr. (1735-
1803) who married Rachel Coleman.

In the name of God Amen!

I Thomas Hunter of Stokes County & State of North Carolina planter being sickly & weak in body but in
perfect mind & memory thanks be given unto God. Calling unto the mind the mortality of  my body do
make & ordain this my last will & testament in manner following. I recommend my soul into the hand of
Almighty God that gave it & my body. I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian Burial at
the discretion of my Executors Par[and] toaching[touching] such worldly estate where-with it has pleased
God to bless me in this life I give devise & despose of the same in the following manner & form.

First I give & bequeath to Elizabeth my beloved wife one feather bed & furniture & the old bay mare & her
Saddle & she is to live & be maintained on the plantation I now live on as long as she remains my widow
Secondly I give unto my first born John the young bay mare.
Thirdly is my will that my sons John, Thomas, Solomon & William is to have my lands & tenements
containing two hundred & twenty acres for them their heirs & assigns forever to be equally divided
between them my four sons when my youngest son William is of Age or twenty one years old.
Fourthly, I give to my Daughters Rachel & Molly one feather bed with furniture & one cow a piece
Fifthly I ordain that my that all my Debts is to be paid out of all my estate after my decease & all moneys
& things due to me is to be collected by My executors & put out upon Interest untill my youngest son
William is of age & then the half of said money is to be divided between my sons John, Thomas, Solomon
& William & the other half to my Daughters Rachel & Milly.[Molly] Also is this my will that the rest of my
horses and my cattle hogs and houslin[house] & plantation furniture is to be  left for the use of the familie.
[family] I Also constitute make & ordain my wife Elizabeth & my brother David Hunter the sole executors of
this my last will & testament. And I do hereby utterly disallow and revoke all former Testament will legacies
and executors Ratifying and confirming this & no other to be my last will and testament in Witness whereof
I have hereunto set my hand& Seal this twenty second day of February one
