Forsyth County Historical Association Forsyth County, North Carolina
|
There has been little researching, preserving, and interpreting of Forsyth County’s non-
Moravian history from the colonial period to the present. Therefore, the county is
missing a large part of its history. Through the establishment of a Forsyth County
historical association, we plan to research, preserve, interpret, and portray our
uniqueness as a county in the context of its interaction with the upper Piedmont region.
During the past two and one-half centuries there has been considerable movement of
individuals and families between Forsyth County and adjoining counties. Important
interchange existed in the region. The Forsyth County Historical Association of North
Carolina will serve as a vital resource for the county’s residents, who mostly have little
understanding of and thus hardly any identification with their past. The most important
element of this historical association will be the presentation of contributions by county
leadership and ordinary citizens, implementing various historical categories: economic,
political, social, and religious. The aim of this approach is to spark enthusiasm and elicit
support from a broader audience.
