Sihon Alexander (Cy) Ogburn

Birth:   Mar. 17, 1840 -Death:   Jun. 2, 1927

87 years of age at time of death. Son of James E. and Sarah M. Tatum Ogburn.
Confederate veteran. Merchant and tobacco manufacturer. In his early youth, he
engaged in the manufacture of tobacco with his father in the plant that was located in
their home. He later had a mercantile business near the present location of O'Hanlon's
Drug Store. He was a member of Hood's Division, 57th Regiment, and served practically
throughout the war. He was wounded at the Battle of Frederickburg, and spent some
time in a Richmond hospital. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Molly) Tice, who he
married on Oct. 17, 1865. They had eight children: Rufus H., Cicero, and John F.
Ogburn, Mrs. J.R. McCreary, Carrie Ogburn, all of Winston. Also Mrs. J.M.Peden of
Fayetteville and Mrs. S.C. Clark of High Point.

Final rites were said this afternoon for Larry Edwin Oxendine, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Oxendine, at Vogler's Chapel.  Service
was conducted by Dr. Ralph Herring.  Burial was in Forsyth Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were R.S. Holder, Gentry Hopper, C.M. McKnight, B.H. Hartman and A.a. Lawson.
Flower bearers were Virginia Souther, Betty Lawson, Dorothy and Nancy Hutchins, Bonnie Mae Salmon and Juanita Martin.

Final Rites for Ogburn Slated Today
Funeral services for Robert Masten Ogburn 75, of Murray Dr., Winston-Salem, Rt 1, will be conducted at 3 pm today at Beck's Baptist
Church by the Rev. David Boaz and the Rev. Ted. Key.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers will be nephews Nat., John, Max,
Bill, and Jim Ogburn, Mickey Holland, Dan Lynch Jr. and Bill Smith.  Mr. Ogburn died Sunday nigh at a Winston-Salem Hospital.
