Florence Abigail Sharp Newsom
Birth: Apr. 14, 1919 Reidsville Rockingham County North Carolina, USA
Death: May 18, 1985 Winston-Salem Forsyth County North Carolina, USA
Murder victim. Florence Newsom, her husband, Robert Newsom, and her mother-in-law,
Hattie Newsom were shot to death in their home by Fritz Klenner on May 18, 1985.
Florence's daughter, Susie and her first cousin, Fritz had developed an unnaturally close
relationship. Florence's husband, Robert had planned to testify in court on May 23,1985, in
favor of his daughter's ex-husband getting more visitation rights to his grandsons, instead they
were buried on that day. On June 3, 1985, officers from several agencies attempted to arrest
Klenner for the murders. As the police closed in on their suspect Klenner gave them a slow
speed chase down Highway 150, north of Greensboro, with Susie and her sons in his Chevy
Blazer. At one point, Klenner opened fire with automatic weapons, wounding one Greensboro
officer. Fritz ended their lives when he detonated a bomb that was under the passenger seat.
Lynch's two small sons, already poisoned and shot, were in the back of the blazer. Jerry
Bledsoe's book "Bitter Blood" tells the story of the obsessive love, and bitter custody battles
that connected three wealthy families by marriage and left nine people dead. There was also a
1994 made for tv movie "In the Best of Families: Marriage, Pride & Madness" starring Harry
Hamlin and Kelly McGillis. (bio by: The Patriot)

BORN NEAR SALEM - Death of Mr. Thomas Nading at Richmond, MO
The Conservator, published at Richmond, Ray County, MO, announces the death of Mr. Thomas Nading, a former citizen of Forsyth. It says:
"Thomas Nading died at his home on East Lexington street, June 17th from paralysis. Mr. Nading was as well as usual Monday and that morning went to the country and
hauled a load of hay. That afternoon he went after another load and between four and five o'clock was suddenly stricken with paralysis, probably caused by being over heated.
He was brought to his home in this city and a physician summoned, but the stroke was so severe that he never regained consciousness and passed peacefully away. The
deceased was a native of North Carolina and was born near Salem, that State, on the 14th day of March, 1935, and was in his 69th year when death claimed him. He was twice
married, both of his wives preceding him in death a number of years. He was the father of four children, all of whom died in infancy. Mr. Nading came to Missouri and settled in
Ray county in 1866 and had resided in Richmond almost continuously since that date. For many years he had made his home with his brother, J.M. Nading and sister, Mrs
Miller, on East Lexington street. He was an industrious, honorable and useful citizen and his death is deplored, not only by his relatives, but by his numerous friends."
