DIED :      In Kernersville, November 8th, 1883, JOHN FREDERICK KERNER, aged 85 years and 10 months. He was born in the neighborhood of Friedland, in
this county, January 9th, 1798. In 1817, his father bought what was then called
Shober’s Cross Roads, now Kernersville. On a part of this land deceased
settled, and married
Miss Nancy Landrum, and built the house in which he died; and the only death besides his was his wife, in 1870. They raised 9 children,
all still living and married, and the farthest away is at High Point. He had 56 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren, making a progeny of 103 souls.
  He was a member of the Moravian Church over 65 years, and one of the Elders more than 40. He was also Postmaster for many years. In 1872 he married
the second time,
Mrs. Emily Huff, m. n. Stewart, who approved [proved?] herself a faithful nurse in his last 8 months of entire helplessness, in consequence
of a stroke of paralysis on the 8th of last April. He had been during his whole previously life been wonderfully blest with health, never having had occasion to
take any medicine, and it was only during the last year of his life that he made use of a cane in walking. The attendance at his burial, both from the town and
country, was very large. He rests in peace.

of Salisbury, has erected a handsome monument over the grave of his wife in the Salem Cemetery.

Jan 6, 1919 UNION REPUBLICAN    At Germanton, NC, Jan 5, Mrs. Lula J. Kiger, aged 36 years.  The husband and 8 children survive.

SEPT. 13, 1934 - THE UNION REPUBLICAN: In this city, Tuesday, Mrs. Albina Brown Kidd, 66, widow of S.L. Kidd.  She was a member of the Methodist
Church and is survived by three daughters. {Note:  Her first husband was Thomas F. Casey per cindyhcasey@yahoo  Family Researcher}

Aug. 10, 1938- [WSJ] MRS. KIGER, 76, DIES AT HOME NEAR BETHANIA
Mrs. Eliza Jane Kiger,
76, Winston-Salem, Route 1 Bethania Station community, died at her home at 1:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon.  She had been in
declining health two years.  The funeral will be held at the home Friday morning at 10 o'clock.
A short funeral service will be held at the home Friday morning at 10 o'clock.  The body will be removed to Maple Springs Methodist Church at 10:30 o'clock
where the main service will start at 11 o'clock.  Rev. R.A. Hunter and Rev. R.C. Stubbins will be in charge.  Burial will be in Forsyth Memorial park.  Mrs. Kiger
was born March 25, 1862 in Forsyth county.  She was the daughter of
J.M. Hunter and Lucy Apperson Hunter.  She spent practically her entire life at the
present home place.  She was married to
E.F. Kiger May 11, 1882.  Both were members of Maple Springs Methodist Church. Survivors include the husband;
four daughters,
Mrs. W.C. Wolfe, Statesville; Mrs. L.M. Miller, Winston-Salem; Miss Myrtle Kiger, Route 1; and Miss Flora Kiger, Winston-Salem; six
grandchilren; and three sisters,
Mrs. J.T. Poindexter and Mrs. S.A. James, Route 1, and Mrs. J. Emory Cox, Winston-Salem.


Feb. 8, 1939 - [WSJ]- T.L. KIMBALL
Thomas Lafayette Kimball,
63, who died last  night at a local  hospital, will be buried Wednesday afternoon in Forsyth Memorial Park.  Funeral services will
be at the home, 916 Knollwood avenue, at 2:30 o'clock. Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. S.W. Hahn and Rev. Mr. Poole.  Burial will be in Forsyth
Memorial Park.



January 30, 1975- Virginian Pilot Newspaper, Norfolk, VA-- GLADYS ALMA BOLES KIPPER, Mrs.

Norfolk - Age 56, of 5251 Revere Drive, Elizabeth Park, the wife of JOHN RAYMOND KIPPER SR, died Wednesday, January 29, 1975 at 4:30 am in a
hospital.  A native of Salem Chapel, Forsyth County, North Carolina, she lived here 26 years.  Until 22 months ago, she was a
saleslady for S.S. Kresge Co downtown at Janaf Shopping Center and Hampton for 10 years.  She was a member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church.  Also
surviving are a son, JOHN RAYMOND KIPPER JR of the home; 3 sisters, Mrs. EDNA LLOYD, Mrs. VIRGINIA LEON and Mrs. A.C.
BRANDON of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  The body will remain in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk until Thursday, January 30, 1975 at 6:00 pm.  On
Friday, January 31, 1975 the family will be at the home of Mrs. B.E. TUTTLE, 2937 Buena Vista Road, Winston-Salem.  A funeral service will be held Saturday,
February 1, 1975 at 2:00 pm in Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Winston-Salem, with burial in Red Bank Baptist Church Cemetery, Forsyth County.

KIGER- Walnut Cove-

MR. JAMES EDWARD (Jim) KIGER, 57, of Walnut Cove, died Monday, December 7, 1998 at Forsyth Medical Center.  Mr. Kiger was born May 19, 1941 in
Forsyth County to the late
? and Myrtle Tuttle Kiger.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and was manager of the Walnut cove ABC Store.  He was a member of
Christ Episcopal Church.  Mr. Kiger was very active in the Walnut Cove Little League Program, having served in every capacity.  He was a member of the
Walnut Cove Volunteer Fire and Rescue.  Because of his work in the community, he was honored by Gov. Jim Hunt as Volunteer of the Year.  Survivors
include his wife,
Carolyn Kiger, of the home, one daughter, Molly and husband, Scott Boyd; one son, Jason F. and wife Lisa Kiger, all of Germanton, three
grandchilcren,
Hailey Boyd, Kristin Kiger, and Brooke Kiger, three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Warren, of Walnut cove, Mrs. B.H. (Louise) Williams, of
Kernersville, and
Mrs. Clarke (Della) Stephens of Walkertown, mother-in-law, Annie W. Southern of Walnut cove; and several nieces and nephews.  
Funeal service will be held Wednesday at 10 am at Christ Episcopal Church.  The Revs. Fred Hamond and John Shields will officiate.  Burial will follow in
Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm at Burroughs Funeral Home in Walnut Cove.
