26 November 1825 – Stokes 9:529: Deed of Trust from John Hunter Senr. to Heirs of Thomas
Hunter deceased:
Thomas Hunter (1763-1805) married Elizabeth Robinson (1768-1864) is the son of John
Hunter Sr. and Rachel Coleman Hunter.
This Indenture made the 26th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and twenty five between John Hunter Senr. of the County of Stokes
in the State of North Carolina of the one part and John Hunter Jr. Thomas Hunter Solomon
Hunter & William Hunter heirs of Thomas Hunter decd of the County of Stokes and
State of North Carolina of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Hunter Senr.
for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars being half of the purchase money
in hand paid by the said Thomas Hunter decd in his life time & his heirs aforesaid to
Lewis DeSchweinitz the receipt whereof the said John Hunter Senr. as copartner with
the heirs of Thomas Hunter aforesaid doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted
bargained and sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain
and sell alien and confirm unto the said heirs of Thomas Hunter decd their heirs and
assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of
Stokes aforesaid on the east side of the Big Yadkin River Containing two hundred and twenty
acres be estimation be the same more or less bounded agreeable to division lines run and
would between the said John Hunter Senr and the heirs of said Thomas Hunter[decd.] in the
land which was conveyed by John Gebhard Currow by his attorney in fact Lewis DeSchweinitz
to said John Hunter & Thomas Hunters heirs do for a deed bearing the date of the 30th day of
March 1814 and recorded in the Clerks office of Stokes County at March Term 1815 and
registered in the Registers office of said County in Book No. 5 folio 552 in co partnership as
aforesaid And also the woods ways waters and watercourses and all an any the appurte-
nances thereunto belonging or any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions,
remainder and remainders rents issues and profits of the aforesaid lands and premises and
every part thereof and all the estate right title interest claims property and demand whatsoever
of the said John Hunter Senr. of and to land and premises hereby granted to have and to hold
the aforesaid lands and premises with the appurtenances and the said heirs of Thomas Hunter
decd & their heirs and assigns to the proper use and behoof of the said heirs of Thomas
Hunter decd and their heirs and assigns forever And the said John Hunter Senr. doth hereby
covenant to and with the said heirs of Thomas Hunter [decd.] that he the said John Hunter
Senr. so far as he is copartner aforesaid is seized in fee of the heirs of Thomas Hunter decd &
their heirs and assigns shall freely and quietly enjoy the aforesaid lands and premises and the
said John Hunter doth by these presents warrant and forever defend the said bargained
premises to the said heirs of Thomas Hunter [decd.] and their heirs and assigns forever In
Testimony whereof the said John Hunter Senr. hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal
the day and year first above written Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of
