Jesse W Atwood et al {Petition for partition of Slaves
This case coming on to be heard on the petitions the exhibits the evidence & the arguments of Counsel It is declared by
the court that the petitioners are tenants in common of the following negro slaves (to wit) Miles Hugh Elijah Mary Jane &
her child Caroline Eunice & old Jenny & have a right to have partition there of made among them according to law
It is further declared by the Court that it would materially and essentially benefit the petitioners John T Atwood and
Antoinette V Atwood to have and receive their share of said Negroes in money
It is further declared by the Court that old Jiney who will be a charge on the estate of said intestate Shall be allowed to
one of the petitioners who shall receive from the negro fund a reasonable sum of money for her maintanance for life-
It is therefore ordered adjudged and decreed by the Court that Fr Fries J M Stafford & E A Vogles be appointed
commisioners to allott and divide said negroes Slaves between the petitioners Mary Atwood Jesse W Atwood Charles
Atwood Andrew Rothrock & Elizabeth his wife Belinda Atwood B F Atwood John T Atwood & Antoinette V Atwood in
equal parts that they make the devision in pursuance of the principales herein before declared by the Court -
That in makeing Said partition they charge the more valuable dividend or dividends with such sums to be paid to the
dividents or dividends of inferior value So as to equalize the divisions among the parties and that they make report of
their proceedings to the next term of this Court

It is therefore ordered adjudged and decreed by the Court that the petitioners are entitled to have the account taken as

Atwood so much of the crop stock and provision belonging their to as may be adequate to the support of herself and
family for one year and if their shall not be a sufficiency on hand to afford such an allowance then to assess the
