June 1893- The Wachovia Moravian

Wachovia Arbor.-This name may sound new to some of our readers, but we hope it will often appear now. A Sunday School has for some time been established here,
and preaching held once a month at a little chapel on the edge of the woods, about a mile and a half north of Winston.  The prospect seems quite bright for the
gathering of a congregation in connection with the Sunday School at an early date.  Br. THAELER has been visiting in many of the homes and finds much
encouragement.

May 1894- The Wachovia Moravian- During April there have been two preaching days, and this will continue for the present, at least until the end of summer.  The
Sunday School is flourishing as well as the weekly prayer-meeting, and the need for a larger house of worship is becoming imperative.....Steps have already been
taken toward the
laying out of a graveyard.  The church has been moved north a number of feet, and when the brush is cleared away from the rest of the lot there
will be ample space for this latter object.
March 1894:  The last month has seen the beginning of a decided forward movement at Wachovia Arbor.  Near the beginning
of February the Committee held a meeting to take up the subject of improvements, and it was resolved that a graveyard, of possibly half an acre, be purchased and laid
out, and that the church itself be enlarged to double its present size, and also be painted.  For the execution of these plans a large sum of money will be required, but
pledges are now being taken toward this end.....

June 1896- The Wachovia Moravian
Our little congregation was much saddened this month, on the 12th of April, b the death of Bro. Flavius Lashmit.  He was one of the original members of the
congregation, having transferred from New Philadelphia when Wachovia Arbor was organized.  A wife and several children are left to mourn their loss, but to rejoice in
the rest he now enjoys.  Toward the end of his life he had been an almost constant sufferer.  His was the first death we have ever had in our congregation.  It is hoped
that the graveyard may soon be put into thorough condition, and fenced off and graded, with walks, etc.  May God, however, bless the surviving members with health
and strength, that they may, for many a day, yet glorify him in this world.

However, we are sorry also to have to record the serious illness of two sisters, Sr. Thos. S. Butner and Sr. David Brown.  We pray that they may soon be restored.
