Nov 30, 1841- Stokes County, NC- found in the NC Archives in Raleigh:
"The undersigned do hereby certify that an Election was opened and held at Blackburns School house on May 29 of
November 1841 and the vote was as follows to wits for George Hartmen- 19, Thomas Craft-15, Jonas Warner-13, Joel
Vest-7, Peter Vogler-4. D.N. Reynolds failed to attend and Vachel Craft acted in his place the above is a true
statement. Nov 30, 1841, Jno Blackburn".
The cover noted this was for district No. 47 and was sent to C.L. Banner, Chairman of the Board of Comm____.

District has been taught by Thomas Craft at the price of $14.00 per month for the term of 3 months and that the
following contains the number and names of the children in said District, designated as required by Act of Assembly:

District No. 35 (originally numbered in Stokes County No. 47)
Beginning at the Shallow ford and Salem road near Carver meeting house & running with the ridge road between
Blanket Bottom & Ellis creeks to the Davidson County line then with said line to Blanket bottom creek, then up said
creek to the upper fence of John Blackburn's meadow thru and East course to Muddy Creek, thus up said creek
including Solomon Vogler to Abraham Teague's bridge thru a direct course to Reynolds' Mill (leaving Leonard Conrad
in No. 36) and thence with the mill road to the beginning.
No. 29 (originally numbered in Stokes County no. 24)
Beginning on the Davidson County line and running up Silas creek (Including George Sheets) to the ford immediately
below the Widow Boyer's mill, then a West direction including the Widow Hyer, Wm. Sheets, John Harper, Wm.
Blackburn, Wm and John Branhaur, to the upper fence of John Blackburn meadow on Blanket bottom creek, thus
down the creek to the Davidson County line & thence with said line to the Beginning.
[Note: There were five one-teacher schools in the Lewisville area in 1884: Lewisville, Blackburn's, Grapevine,
Black's and Warner's]

Forsyth County This made the 18th day of November 1884 by J.G. Blackburn and wife, M.E. Blackburn of Forsyth
County and State of North Carolna, to Geo. F, S.W. Craft and Robert Griffith, Public School Committee of Dist. No.
22 for whites, Forsyth County North Carolina Witnesseth that said J.G. Blackburn and wife, M.E. Blackburn in
consideration of surrendering up to said J.G. Blackburn and his heirs the old Blackburn school house site
together with the deed transfer, which is lost and cannot be found, to them paid by the said Public School
Committee the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain,
sell, and convey to said Public School Committee and their successors in office, a tract or parcel of land in Forsyth
County, State of North Carolina, adjoining the land of W.W. Vest and J.G. Blackburn and bounded as follows Viz:
Beginning at a stump in W.W. Vest's line and running South 46 degrees west, 3 chains 25 links to a stone, thence west
3 chains to a stone, thence North 15 degrees West, 2 chains and 75 links to a stone, thence East on Vest's line 4
chains and 78 links to the Beginning, containing one acre, more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or
parcel of land, and all privileges and appurtenances thereto be longing to the said public School Committee, and their
successors in office to their only use and behoof and the said JG. Blackburn and wife M.E. Blackburn covenant that
they are seized of said premises in fee and have right to convey the same in fee simple, that the same are free from all
encumbrances and that they will warrant and defend the title to the same against all claims of all persons whatever.
In Testimony whereof, the said J.G. Blackburn and wife M.E. Blackburn have hereunto set their hands and seals the day
and year above written.

J.N.S. Cook, Justice of the Peace, do hereby certify that J.G. Blackburn and M.E. Blackburn, his wife, personally
appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the within deed of conveyance, and the said M.E.
Blackburn being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband, touching her voluntary execution
of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or cumpulsion of her said husband
or any other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto. Witness, my hand and private seal, this is 21st
day of Jany A.D. 1885 N.S. Cook J.P. (seal)
State of North Carolina, Forsyth County - the foregoing certificate of N.S. Cook, a Justice of the Peace of Forsyth
County, is adjudged to be in due form and according to law. Therefore, let the same, with this certificate, be registered.
